The wireless CCTV system is designed compliment and upgrade an existing CCTV system where it is not practical to install trunkings or to lay the wiring in order to install new or additional cameras. It is indeed a more expensive option to install cameras in some locations; it can be justifiable when we condider the aesthetic viewpoint in homes in some instances or the high cost to wire the cameras some installations.

One of the benefits of a wireless system is that it can be easily dismantled and relocated to an alternative location at minimum cost and inconvenience. It can be easily configured to interface with commercial digital video recording systems and the the enduser can add another surveillance camera within a 100 meter radius from the monitoring centre with running additional wiring all over to the location.

A basic wireless CCTV system consist of :

• A CCTV camera with power adapter.

The selection of the type of CCTV camera to install is dependent on the application in which it is meant to be used. for home application, a dome camera will suffice; whereas for outdoor uses (monitoring the driveway or backyard), an IR camera, Tube camera, PIR camera or a CCD camera with outdoor housing configuration may be used.
