Wireless surveillance system in lifts

A CCTV system designed for older lift systems

CCTV system in lifts is one of the features which are often integrated into the security systems in modern buildings and apartment blocks. In the past CCTV monitoring in lifts is a feature found in exclusive top end developments to assure the residents that their security are the apartment’s management utmost concern and no expenses is spared to ensure their safety.

With increased global awareness of the need of security, CCTV monitoring in lifts is a desired feature in most buildings and residential apartments. The cost of installing this feature in new developments does not affect the cost significantly, however to incorporate this feature in lifts of older developments can be a costly affair when it come to installing the cable to transmit the images captured by the camera to the monitor or recording medium.

The wireless CCTV system is designed to be installed in lifts from older development to enable them to have the facility of monitoring and recording of activities in lift operating in their premises using wireless technology. The cost savings in not having to install the cables is more that adequate to install and implement the wireless CCTV system.

The Wireless surveillance system in lifts uses a customized designed industrial transmitter/receiver system to transmit the images captured by the dome camera installed in the lifts. The wireless Transreceiver model SEWT 01 is set of IDA approved transmitter model TX01 installed on the roof of the lift and receiver RX01 installed in the lift motor room. The basic model can be used in buildings up to 22 storeys (80 metres equivalent) without any distortion and the upgraded model can be used in buildings up to 40 storeys (150 metres equivalent).

SecureRus provides consultancy and design services to the end users to customize the system to their requirements as well as to integrate the lift monitoring system to their main security system. There is an option to incorporate voice recording feature on the top of video recording feature in this system. The installation of the system is done without any modification to the end user’s lifts’ system. There will be no system hardware conflict between the lift’s operating and the lift surveillance system as they operated independent of one another.

The installation is done by a team of highly experienced technicians who are trained in installation and maintenance of lift security control and monitoring systems. These installers have gone through training sessions conducted by the manufacturer to ensure the quality of the installation meets the manufacturer’s specifications.

The manufacturer will carry adequate spare parts to support the system throughout the lifespan of the lifts in which they are installed in.

Features of the wireless surveillance system in lifts:

1. The system is cost effective to implement. The cost of wiring a conventional lift surveillance system exceeds the cost of the whole project.
2. The system is portable. It can be dismantled and reinstalled in other premises should the end user decide to relocate their office premises.
3. The system is practically maintenance free and malfunctioned components can be replaced easily.
4. The system can be enhanced easily to incorporate internet viewing, digital recording and to be integrated into the end user’s existing security surveillance system.

Components of the Wireless surveillance system:
Elevator Surveillance transceiver (SEWT-01)
Securitex Elevator “wireless transceiver” Model SEWT-01 uses a very high frequency (2.4 GHZ) to transmit real-time wireless video signal to a receiver. This transmitted signal can reach a maximum height of 150 metres this is equivalent to a 40 story building. With this SEWT-01 installed, installing elevator surveillance camera will never be the same again as there is no necessity to use coaxial cables. This not only saves thousand of dollars but system can be installed and commissioned in any lifts within hours rather than days. This system has a voice recording feature as well.

The transmitter TX-01 is installed on the roof of the lift car. A dome camera (colour or b/w) is mounted on the lift car ceiling facing the elevator door. The camera and the transmitter TX01 takes it power from the 12VDC rechargeable power supply unit by plugging the power supply system to the 230VAC power socket which is available on all elevator car top.

The RX-01 is than install at the lift motor room (a suitable location is needed to be selected for optimum quality). The RX-01 takes it power from the 12VDC rechargeable power supply unit by plugging in the power supply system to the 230VAC power socket which is available on all elevator motor room.
A coaxial cable is than plug into the video output and the other end of the cable is plug into a monitor and recorder or a Digital Video Recorder

Receiver RX01

This elevator wireless transmitter and receiver is house in an IP66 enclosure from Italy with watertight cable inlet. Thus this equipment can be placed outdoor under rain and shine. As long as the transmitter and receiver are position is such a way that it faces each other, the transmitting range can be achieved up to 150 meters line of sight. It can even penetrate metal surface and concrete walls.

  Colour or black/white dome camera

The dome camera is to be mounted on the ceiling of the lift car with the lens facing the door of the lift. Some of these cameras come with a microphone integrated into the unit to facilitate voice recording as an additional feature. The images captured by the camera will be relayed to the TX 01 transmitter to be transmitted by wireless to RX 01 mounted on the lift motor room.
